Watch out for seekers bank info, say cops
The Cyberabad police alerted Internet users to a new type of e-mail scam which targets companies that send or receive foreign remittances, following a case that was recently registered with the cyber crime police and three fresh instances that came to light on Thursday.

Police said the scamsters hack into the email server of the company and send emails to customers about a change in bank information. These new banks are in Europe (Germany, the UK and Hungary) and the accounts are operated by the scamsters. Police said the scamsters manage to open bank accounts in the company’s name in these European nations.

The other scam targeted outgoing wire payments from India. Emails are sent from vendors or agents who need to pay with small changes in domain name, for example, from @xyzchemical.com to @xyzchemicals.com
