BSF jawan killed in Pakistan firing

In Islamabad, the Pakistan authorities said that it were the Indian border guards who opened fire, injuring five civilians.

SRINAGAR: A Border Security Force head constable was killed and six civilians were injured as the Pakistan Rangers continued to pound the Indians forward posts and civilians areas along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir’s R.S. Pura with small arms and mortar guns on Thursday.

The BSF said that the Pakistan Rangers violated the ceasefire once again by resorting to “unprovoked” firing and that it (BSF) retaliated with same calibre weapons. In Islamabad, the Pakistan authorities said that it were the Indian border guards who opened fire, injuring five civilians.

Meanwhile, an Army jawan was killed and another wounded in a fire fight with suspected militants in Tanghdar sector along the LoC in Kupwara district of Kashmir Valley on Thursday, official sources said.

The BSF said that the Pakistani Rangers started unprovoked firing and shelling on its outposts in R.S.Pura and Arnia sectors around 9 pm on Wednesday and continued it through Thursday.
