Corporator throws lavish party for MP

Mr Malla Reddy told this newspaper, The residents felicitated me in light of the order that asks for reopening of the roads.

Hyderabad: Corporator Katikaneni Sreedevi of Ward 136 threw a lavish party to ‘recognise the personal efforts’ of Malkajgiri MP Ch. Malla Reddy in securing the reopening of cantonment roads, at the Katikaneni Saraswathi function hall, Neredmet on Saturday.

Mr Katikineni Hanumanatha Rao, husband of the corporator, said, “Mr Malla Reddy took a lot of personal interest in this issue that led to the reopening of the cantonment roads.”

Mr Malla Reddy told this newspaper, “The residents felicitated me in light of the order that asks for reopening of the roads. I was very happy to see that a lot of near and dear ones participated in the occasion.”

Though invitations were sent to all the corporators, MLCs, colony presidents and secretaries of colony associations, only a few colony secretaries from Malkajgiri turned up,

Many residents took part in the struggle to reopen roads as it was affecting their lives. Many had rejoiced at the order stating that their four-year-long struggle had come to an end after the defence ministry passed orders to reopen the roads.

Mr C.S. Chandrashekar, secretary, Federation of Northeastern Colonies of Secunderabad, said, "We appreciate the efforts of the MP but we also want the remaining roads to be opened soon and the walled blockages should be demolished as early as possible. We don't want the alternative roads because that might lead to the closure of existing roads."
