The HMDA said it would take action against officials concerned for the delay in finalisation of new tenders.

Hyderabad: Vehicle parking at Sanjeevaiah Park has been made free following a report in these columns.

Responding to the report “Sanjeevaiah park fee charged Illegally” (Dec. 24), the HMDA said it would take action against officials concerned for the delay in finalisation of new tenders.

This newspaper had reported that HMDA had awarded the contract to Eshwar Chowdary for a period of three years from February 10, 2015, to February 9, 2018. Even after the expiry of the contract, the agency continued to collect parking fee and was paying the lease of Rs 2 lakhs per month to HMDA.

Instead of collecting Rs 15 for two-wheelers as specified in the contact, the agency was unauthorizedly collecting Rs 20 for which a police complaint was lodged on Chowdary, the HMDA said.

This newspaper had reported that anti-corruption activists had filed complaints with the police.
