Hyderabad: Schools must take measures to ensure safety

Director and commissioner of education to enforce measures strictly.

Hyderabad: The director and commissioner of school education has started sensitising district education officers and deputy education officers to implementing the provisions of GO MS 36 on child safety in schools.

They have been asked to create more awareness among schools to implement the government order.

Strict action will be taken against managements if schools don’t follow the instructions.

Mr T. Vijay Kumar, commissioner of school education, said the department had conducted workshops for district education officers and other officers. The DEOs would conduct workshops in all the schools regularly and inspect the premises schools later. “We have instructed schools to appoint a woman employee near the girls toilets. Women staff have to be appointed in school buses as well,” he said.

He said the department had decided to sensitise schools instead of penalising them rightaway for shortcomings.

Mr Srinivas Reddy, president of the Telangana Recognised Private School Managements Association, said the body was also creating awareness regarding GO MS 36.

Mr Sheik Shabbir Ali, state president of the Telangana Private Teachers’ Forum appreciated the campaign to make schools safe.
