HYDERABAD: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president and MP A. Revanth Reddy on Monday demanded that the BJP government repeal the three controversial farm laws without further delay.
He was speaking to media persons after he was arrested near Uppal Bus Depot for participating in the nationwide Bharat Bandh call given by the farmers and supported by 20 Congress-led Opposition parties.
The TPCC chief ridiculed minister K.T. Rama Rao for stating that the TRS was against the three new farm laws. He said if the TRS was really opposed to the farm laws, then why was it not participating in the Bharat Bandh. The TRS leaders participated in only one protest against the farm laws in December 2020.
But now, Chandrashekar Rao had entered into a secret deal with the BJP government to suppress farmers’ agitation, he said.
He demanded that a resolution be passed in the Telangana Assembly against the three contentious farm laws. He said the Congress would support the resolution in the House.
Referring to filling up of various vacant posts in government departments, he said the Biswal Committee had specifically pointed out that there were 1.91 lakh vacant posts but Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao took no measure to act on the findings of the committee. He also pointed out that nearly 19 lakh jobless youth, who registered themselves with the Telangana Public Service Commission, were still waiting for job notifications. He said the KCR government was not even paying the promised unemployment allowance of Rs 3,016 per month to the jobless youth.
Revanth Reddy said all members of the Chandrashekar Rao family got jobs after the formation of Telangana state, but the qualified and educated youth of Telangana remained unemployed.
Accusing the TRS government of intoxicating the youth, he suggested that flexies of Chandrashekar Rao should be erected before wine shops and bars. He said liquor should be poured on CM’s portraits at all-important crossroads in the state till job notifications were issued. He also advised the youth to book a liquor bottle and have it delivered to Pragathi Bhavan.
Revanth Reddy said neither the BJP government at the Centre nor the TRS government in Telangana came to the rescue of common people during the Corona pandemic. He said both the governments suppressed real figures of Covid cases and deaths and did nothing for the people during the crisis.
He demanded that Rs 10 lakh compensation be paid to the families of those who lost their lives due to Covid-19.
