Ex-bureaucrat, son found dead months after wife, daughter killed themselves

The CBI had accused Bansal, a senior officer in the Corporate Affairs ministry, of accepting Rs 9 lakh as bribe.

New Delhi: Former Director General of Corporate Affairs BK Bansal, who was accused of corruption and his home raided by the CBI, committed suicide on Monday along with his son at their residence in Delhi's Madhu Vihar, said reports.

His wife and daughter had hanged themselves in July, two days after he was arrested by the CBI. Satyabala (58) and daughter Neha (28) allegedly hanged themselves from ceiling fans in two separate rooms at their residence in Nilkanth Apartments, leaving separate suicide notes.

The CBI had registered a case against Bansal, a senior officer in the Corporate Affairs ministry, accusing him of accepting Rs. 9 lakh as bribe from a pharmaceuticals company.

"We are deeply saddened to know the demise of B.K. Bansal and his son today. The matter is being looked into by the local police," said CBI in an official statement.

CBI had carried out searches at eight locations in connection with the case during which the agency had claimed to have made cash recoveries. The CBI claimed it had searched the family apartment and found Rs 60 lakh cash, 20 property papers and details of 60 bank accounts
