HMDA plans park near Jalavihar

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has decided to develop a lakefront park in 10 acres of land adjacent to Jalavihar on Necklace road.

The state government has also sanctioned Rs 15 crore for the purpose and released GO 119 dated 25 May 2018 in this regard.

The modern lakefront park will have elevated walkways with underpasses, pedestrian trails and three metres wide walk, water channel deck with seating, glass deck and lake side over-water body. There will also be children play area, pergolas with seating and illuminated light sculptures at focal points.

The existing wooden area will be enhanced to suit to elevated walkways. The park will also have ample parking space. Efforts are onto making it a model park and provide new recreational experience for visitors.

Under the shoreline improvement initiative, the HMDA has identified the land between Jalavihar and V Ghat for developing the park. The HMDA has hired a Mumbai-based consultant in order to prepare landscaping plan, detailed estimate, working diagrams and specifications for execution of the project.
