The hunger strike was organised at all the divisional offices of the RTC across the state.

Hyderabad: Demanding immediate rollback of the decision taken by the RTC management on the privatisation of pharmacy in RTC Hospital at Tarnaka, workers and employees from Telangana State Road Transport Corporation Staff and Workers’ Federation took part in a one-day hunger strike on Wednesday.

The hunger strike was organised at all the divisional offices of the RTC across the state.

Speaking at the hunger strike camp at Kacheguda division, federation leader P. Ravinder Reddy said that the RTC spent Rs 7 crore on the pharmacy earlier which rose to Rs 11 crore after privatisation.

“The decision is causing more losses to the TSRTC. We have been demanding the government upgrade the hospital to super-speciality and sanction medical college as it has a 250 bed capacity,” Mr Ravinder Reddy said.

He said that among the federation’s demands was that of the Corporation management supplying quality medicines in the hospital’s pharmacy.
