Ex-tax official is special expenditure observer to Telangana state, Andhra Pradesh

Both officers are said to have extensive knowledge of search and seizure operations.

Vijayawada: Amid growing concerns of large-scale money flow, the Election Commission on Tuesday appointed a former tax official as special expenditure observer to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana state.

Former member of the Central Board of Direct Taxes, Mr Gopal Mukherjee, has been posted as special expenditure observe to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana state.

The Election Commission also posted former director-general, income-tax, (Investigation to Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland) Mr D.D. Goel.

Both officers are said to have extensive knowledge of search and seizure operations.

They will supervise and monitor the work being done by the electoral machinery and ensure that stringent enforcement action is undertaken based on intelligence inputs and complaints received through C-VIGIL and Voter Helpline 1950.
