Election Commission releases voter list, 15,433 names deleted

After the final publication on January 11, 2019, around 1,57,947 people registered as new voters in the district.

Tirupati: Election Commission has released the final voters’ list in Chittoor district that showed deletion of around 15,433 names and total corrections of 27,284 names.

According to the list released by the district election officer and district collector P.S. Pradyumna, the total number of electorates in the district is 31,83,169, comprising 15,77,106 males, 16,05,726 women and 337 transgenders.

After the final publication on January 11, 2019, around 1,57,947 people registered as new voters in the district.

While releasing the list, Pradyumna said that the highest number of applications were received for new enrolments from Tirupati, Chandragiri, Madanapalli and Chittoor segments.

After verifying the claims received from all over the district, as on date, 15,433 names have been deleted from the voters’ list, in which from the much hyped Chandragiri, only 70 names were deleted, he added.

The DEO further said that, keeping in view the increa-sed number of voters, 3,800 polling booths were set up across the district, which was further increased to 3,820. He also said that the administration has successfully completed the first-lev-el randomisation of EVMs and were deployed to all the polling stations, while the second was under way in the presence of observers.

Meanwhile, in the district, highest number of deletio-ns were done at Palamaner -2,414 followed by 2,127 from G.D. Nellore, 2,093 from Pileru and 1,974 from Satyavedu constituencies.
