UGC releases Rs 23 crore to Anna University

The commission has recognised Anna varsity as the University with Potential for Excellence in the area of biomedical engineering and instrumentation.

Chennai: The University Grants Commission has released the grant of '23 crore to Anna University for biomedical engineering and instrumentation research under University with Potential for Excellence Scheme.

The commission has recognised Anna University as the University with Potential for Excellence in the area of biomedical engineering and instrumentation. “The area is apt for the technical university as the demand for medical technology is growing at 15 to 20 per cent annually,” said S. Ganesan, registrar, Anna University.

The university will develop automated biomedical device with the fund.
“An interdisciplinary team from bio-technology, instrumentation and medical physics will contribute to the proposed developmental activities,” he added.
