PhD student of 'University of Hyderabad' succumbs to dengue

He was referred to a private hospital in Indira Nagar which diagnosed it as viral fever.

Hyderabad: A PhD student of Hyderabad Central University, Rasmi Ranjan Suna, who was suffering with dengue, died of multiple organ failure on Sunday at a private hospital in the city.

Suna went to the University Health Centre and complained of severe body pains. He was referred to a private hospital in Indira Nagar which diagnosed it as viral fever. He was admitted to the same hospital after his health condition worsened. Since there was no improvement, he was rushed to another private hospital who then confirmed it as dengue but due to organ damage his health condition had become critical.

Suna was from Odisha. The students of HCU have protested about the inability of the University Health Centre to provide proper medical advice to students and leaving them at the mercy of private hospitals. Students state that the UHC reference hospitals must be reviewed and there must be proper medical advice given to them.
