Telugu Desam activist injured in a bid to burn PM Modi effigy

He lamented that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi using CBI for political mileage and harassment of other party leaders in the States.

VIJAYAWADA: One Telugu Desam leader was injured in a bid to burn an effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during TD protests against corruption in CBI at Guntur on Thursday.

The TD leaders with activists staged a rally in the city and later gathered at Lodge center. They poured petrol on the Prime Minister effigy and lit the fire but the flames suddenly spread to the leaders and activists. The flames caught Telugu Yuvatha leader S. Chaitanya hence the TD cadres immediately pulled him but he received burn injuries hence shifted to hospital for treatment.

Guntur district TD president and Vinukonda MLA G.V. Aanjaneyulu alleged that the BJP-led Union government intentionally conducting IT raids targeting TD leaders in the state to tarnish the party image. He lamented that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi using CBI for political mileage and harassment of other party leaders in the States.

He said Mr Modi had conducted similar raids and checks in Tamil Nadu and now started in AP to destabilise TD government. He alleged that first BJP cheated Andhra public by shunning the bifurcation assurances and now trying to defame AP State through I-T raids.
