Telangana to consult senior SC counsel on Brijesh Kumar Tribunal orders

“A final decision will be taken by the state Cabinet, after the subcommittee submits its report in the matter,â€Mr Harish Rao said.

Hyderabad: The TS government will take a final decision on filing an appeal against the Justice Brijesh Kumar Tribunal verdict after holding consultations with Supreme Court senior counsel C.S. Vaidyanathan. Mr Vaidyanathan will participate in the Cabinet subcommittee meeting on October 29.

Speaking to newsmen in Delhi, TS irrigation minister T. Harish Rao said that the state government feels that it got a raw deal from the recent Tribunal verdict which even ignored the plea of the state that injustice was meted out to the region in allocation of Krishna waters following arguments by undivided AP before both Bachawat and Brijesh Kumar Tribunals.

He said Telangana, which has a considerable catchment area of the Krishna river, has been continuously suffering injustice as far as allocations to various projects are concerned. “A final decision will be taken by the state Cabinet, after the subcommittee submits its report in the matter,” Mr Harish Rao said.

The minister, who attended the National Coordination Panel on Prime Minister’s Krishi Sanchay Yojana in Delhi, requested Union water resources minister Uma Bharti and Union finance minister Arun Jaitley to extend liberal assistance under Accelerated Irrigation Beneficial Programme to Devadula project as well as for Mission Kakatiya schemes in the state.
