Hyderabad: An engineering student committed suicide on Tuesday at Medchal. The 19-year-old M. Aditya, a BTech student of Osmania Engineering College, jumped into the Peddamma Cheruvu lake in Keesara and ended his life after leaving a suicide note. Before jumping into the lake he sent a message to his father M. Ravikant, who is a TRS leader, over the phone.
According to local police, Aditya’s suicide note said that he was depressed about his life and did not want to live anymore. It also said that he had been thinking of committing suicide since Intermediate.
“The suicide note does not state why he was depressed and what was the real reason for his suicide. We are now investigating those details,” said Keesara inspector P. Guruva Reddy.
Aditya’s family said he went out from home on Monday and did not return. Later, his father received a message on his phone, which said that he was on the banks of the lake. Though his father tried to call him back, his phone was switched off. Later, police fished out Aditya’s body. A case was registered by the police.
Medico jumps to death
A 19-year-old medico of Osmania Medical College, allegedly committed suicide at his residence in Nalgonda on Tuesday. The medico, Y. Saikumar Reddy, jumped from the top of a building. Parents alleged that he was depressed with the teaching pattern at the college.
Yanala Saikumar Reddy was the youngest son of Teacher's Union leader Prabhaker Reddy. He secured 167 rank in the Eamcet entrance and joined Osmania Medical College.
He was not happy with the way of teaching at the college. Three days ago when he came home he told his parents about how he was facing trouble with the teaching pattern. His father told him that things will improve as days pass on. “I assured him that I will talk to his faculty members about his problem and find a way out, but he did not give us time,” Prabhaker said.
Prabhaker, who went out of station on Monday returned home at 11.30 pm. Sai, who was waiting for his father ran into the balcony and jumped down from the fifth floor. “There was no sign but it seemed that he wanted to see dad for one last time,” his elder brother Manikumar said. His family rushed him to a nearby hospital, but he died on the way. Police registered a case of suicide and handed over the body to his family after post-mortem.
