Industry attachment cell at APJ University soon

The cell will have to obtain support for university level technical, curricular and co-curricular events.

Thiruvananthapuram: APJ Abdul Kalam University will create an Industry Attachment cell to serve as an interface between the university and industries.

The cell is expected to enhance curriculum development by involving industry experts, collaborate, liaison and work with industry bodies, associated professional organisations, and skill enhancement agencies to implement various skills development programmes

It is also expected to establish partnership with leading industries and seek support for instituting common facilities like research and development, labs and Centres of Excellences, as per an university notification.

The cell will have to obtain support for university level technical, curricular and co-curricular events. They would have to formulate strategy for skilling students and equip them for dynamic demands of industry and identify specific knowledge areas where applied research can inculcate value addition and formulate research problems which will be made available for faculty and research scholars to explore further.

The cell will have to chart out schemes for implementation for new academic programmes which require strong industry interactions such as B Voc. Industry Minor, Entrepreneurship development and identify the academic and research potential of affiliated colleges and identify industries to connect, the notification of university said.

The cell will have to initiate centralised placement drives in collaboration with industry for the benefit of students, the notification said.

As part of the formation of the cell, the university has invited applications from qualified candidates for the appointment to the post of Coordinator, Industry Attachment Cell on contract basis initially for a period of one year, in the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University. Engineering graduates having 10 years experience in engineering Industry or Engineering graduates with MBA having six years experience in engineering Industry can apply.

Experience should include implementation of programmes and schemes relating academic and industry. The target role of the coordinator was to develop and maintain effective network with various industries, University and affiliated colleges.
