Madurai: A sudden fire, accompanied by thud noise and smoke, broke out in a cinema theatre at Melur, Madurai on Sunday, but luckily nobody was hurt, police said.
The fire in one of the three screens of Ganesh Paradise, as per preliminary investigations, is believed to have been caused by a short circuit in an air-conditioner unit. People were quickly evacuated from the theatre as the flames spread rapidly before it was brought under control. Some goods stored on the ground floor were damaged by the blaze, police said, adding, further investigations are on.
