Rajnath Singh says all-party delegation will visit Valley

Singh said that an all-party delegation would visit Kashmir and that he has asked Ms Mufti to make arrangements for it.

Srinagar: The Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti stood up abruptly to leave while Mr Singh was still seated and replying to the barrage of questions from reporters. He also then got up reluctantly and the press interaction at her residence ended.

Before the press meet came to an abrupt end, Mr Singh said that an all-party delegation would visit Kashmir and that he has asked Ms Mufti to make arrangements for it.

Mr Singh said here on Thursday that an alternative to pellet guns will be proposed within a few days and dropped enough hints about the Centre’s willingness to hold talks with the Hurriyat Conference.

Mr Singh, in Kashmir to review the situation and to reach out to the people, met delegations from almost every political party, about 20 civil society delegations, and held talks with chief minister Mehbooba Mufti. Mr Singh, stressing that there was no future for India without Kashmir, again invoked Vajpayee’s policy of Kashmiriyat, insaniyat and jamhooriyat.

Pulwama under curfew
Curfew was on Thursday extended to Pulwama district while it remained in force in some areas of Srinagar and Anantnag town, while restrictions on the assembly of people in the rest of the Valley continued for the 48th consecutive day in the wake of violence following killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani. Curfew is in force in five police station areas of downtown city and Batamaloo and Maisuma areas in uptown, a police official said.
