Kasargod: Chayoth polling only 89.2 per cent

Earlier reports said 99 per cent voting was registered in Kasargod booth.

KASARGOD: Contrary to reports that the booth at Chayoth Government Higher Secondary School in Kasargod registered 99 per cent poll, the highest in the state, district electoral officer clarified that the actual figure is 89.2 per cent only.

"It was a typographical error. The actual poll percentage at the No 190 booth is 89.2," confirmed Kasargod district electoral officer and district collector D. Sajith Babu.

The error has been corrected officially. In the said booth, which is under Kanhangad assembly constituency, there are 1,208 total voters of which 1082 votes were polled (Male-539, Female-543).

As many as 121 booths in Kasaragod constituency has recorded more than 90 per cent poll.

A majority of the high turnout booths come under Payyanur assembly seat, which is regarded as an LDF stronghold.

The booth at Neeleswaram Pala under Trikaripur assembly constituency registered 98.2 per cent, which tops in the district.

The No 29 booth at Chathamath A.U.P School recorded 96.7 per cent followed by No 120 booth at Puthilott A.U.P School at 97 per cent and No 133 booth at Eramam South L.P School also at 97 per cent.
