Jana Sena offers to pay Konda Reddy fort damage cost

The damage assessment can be done by a panel commissioned by the Archaeological Survey of India.

Hyderabad: The Jana Sena offered to pay for the damage caused by its activists to the Konda Reddy fort, a national monument, during a road show of party chief Pawan Kayan on Sunday.

The damage assessment can be done by a panel commissioned by the Archaeological Survey of India.

Police and political leaders are said to have brought intense pressure on the ASI staff to withdraw the case filed before the Two Town police. On Sunday evening, after the road show, ASI gardners and non-technical staff had filed a complaint regarding damage to the fort.

An official said Jana Sena representatives offered to pay for the damage to flower pots and electrical fittings. He asked for an undertaking that they would abide by the final damage assessment.

Two Town police said no case would be filed if a compromise was worked out between the ASI and Jana Sena.
