Hyderabad: A fire broke out in the Dhulapally forest on the city outskirts on Saturday. Officials said the fire was started by a careless smoker who threw his lighted cigarette on some dry leaves.
Assistant district fire officer Ch. Buchaiah said the fire was doused with the help of two fire tenders from Secunderabad and Jeedimetla. The loss was estimated at Rs 15,000. “The area is covered with wild grass and trees and the fire would have spread rapidly if it wasn’t controlled in time,” he said.
