Mysuru trains to reach city 10 to 35 minutes early

This will happen with the completion of Railway line doubling work across 134.5 km.

Bengaluru: The travel time from Mysuru to Bengaluru will be reduced by 10-35 minutes from March 1, with the completion of Railway line doubling work across 134.5 kms, except for a stretch of 1.5 kms where the shifting of Tipu’s armoury is in progress.

The translocation of Tipu’s armoury which is in the second lane of the doubling work is likely to be completed by May end. After the completion of electrification, translocation of Tipu’s armoury and completion of the entire doubling project, the travel time is likely to reduce by 50 minutes by June this year. The Shatabdi express which is already reaching Bengaluru in 1 hour 50 minutes may reach in 1 hour 35 minutes from June, railway sources said.

The project of railway line doubling which commenced with an estimated cost of Rs 300 crore in 2005 in three phases from Bengaluru to Kengeri, Kengeri to Ramanagar and Ramanagar to Bengaluru, has currently touched Rs 875 crores including electrification costs.
