UDF meet calls for K M Mani return, lambasts M P Veerendrakumar

The UDF decided to take a firm stand against the formation of the Kerala Bank by linking cooperatives.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: UDF high-power committee on Thursday decided to take steps to invite Kerala Congress faction back. IUML leader P. K. Kunhalikutty presented the proposal that leaders who have a good rapport with KC (M) leader K. M. Mani should take the initiative. The meeting also came out strongly against the decision of the JDU to leave them to join the LDF without giving specific reasons. The letter sent by the JDU leaders to the front also did not list out the reasons. Some UDF leaders expressed doubts whether it had anything to do with some cases related to the estate of the party leader M. P. Veerendrakumar in Wayanad.

Mr Veerendrakumar would have needed the support of the LDF leaders who are in power to settle the issues, some of them argued. Meanwhile, RSP Leader Shibu Baby John alleged that the UDF leadership did not take the initiative in retaining some leaders of the JDU who were willing to stay back. The UDF decided to take a firm stand against the formation of the Kerala Bank by linking cooperatives. The plan is to meet officials of the RBI and NABARD to take up the issue. A meeting of activists in the cooperative sector has been convened on Feb. 1 to discuss the issue.
