Clashes raise between Junior college students in Dhone

KURNOOL: Two groups of student on Friday indulged in a fight with each other leaving five of them injured at Dhone government Junior College. The incident came to light on Saturday when a video of the students fighting went viral.

A preliminary investigation into the incident found that the groups clashed over an issue of a love affair, Dhone Town Circle Inspector K.V. Ramana said. He said that a complaint was received on Saturday and a case has been registered.

He said the reasons for the group clash would only be known after a thorough enquiry into the incident. Meanwhile, some of the parents flayed the inaction of police who failed to register a case immediatelyt.

Campus violence has been showing a steady rise in Kurnool with groups of students frequently indulging in fisticuffs and injuring each other. In some cases, deadly weapons were used by the combating groups, it is said

Last week in Nandayl, two groups of students belonging to RGM Enginerring College used daggers in attacks on each other. Some of the engineers students suffered injuries. Police has been taking things very casually, said a parent.

Dhone incident which went viral took place on Friday but the college principal did not inform the police on time, it is learnt. The principal was not available for comment.
