Hundreds of Shia Muslims marched to a private Hindi news channel's office.

Bengaluru: Hundreds of Shia Muslims marched to a private Hindi news channel’s office in Richmond Road on Friday in protest against “derogatory remarks against Prophet Muhammad's wife and daughter, and mother of Jesus,” by its anchor.

Protesters, under the banner Anjuman-e-Imamia Bengaluru, marched from Masjid-e-Aksari to the Aaj Tak office on Richmond Road shouting slogans against the channel and its anchor Rohit Sardana. They demanded that action be taken against him for his remarks against people revered by followers of Islam and Christianity.

They reportedly damaged a glass door and police was called to ensure security. “We condemn the anchor’s remarks on Bibi Fatima, the daughter of the Holy Prophet, Ayesha, the wife of the Holy Prophet and Immaculate Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ.”

The anchor’s tweet was regarding the controversy surrounding the movie Sexy Durga. He apologised later.
