Sabarimala issue: LDF to go on the offensive

Plans state wide programme to celebrate Temple Entry Proclamation.

Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has decided to organise elaborate programmes to commemorate the 82nd anniversary of Temple Entry Proclamation.

The state cabinet decided to organise programmes in connection with the anniversary celebrations in all districts from November 10 to 12. As part of the programme, the government will organise exhibitions, lecture series, documentary festivals and public meetings to highlight the importance of temple entry proclamation in the state’s journey towards becoming a modern egalitarian Kerala.

The cabinet decided to entrust ministers with the responsibilities of organising programmes in each district. Thiruvananthapuram – Kadakampally Sure-ndran; Kollam – J Mercy Kutty Amma; Pathanam-thitta – Mathew T. Thomas; Alappuzha – G. Sudhakaran, P Thilotha-man, Dr Thomas Isaac; Kottayam – K. Raju; Ernakulam – C Ravee-ndranath; Thrissur – A C Moideen, V.S. Sunil Kumar; Palakkad – A.K. Balan; Malappuram – K. T. Jaleel; Kozhikode –T.P. Ramkrishnan, A.K. Saseendran; Wayanad – Ramachanran Kadana-pally; Kannur – E.P. Jayarjan, K.K. Shailaja and Kasargod - E Chandrashkeharan.

The programme assumes significance in the wake of attempts being made Sangh Parivar outfits to create communal polarisation in the state in the name of Sabarimala temple. The LDF has launched a major political exercise to convince people about the government’s stand on Supreme Court verdict on Sabarimala temple.

Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan is himself leading the mass contact programmes. During the three public meetings held in Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanmathitta and Kollam he has reiterated the government’s resolve to implement the Supreme Court verdict in letter and spirit.

After the district level rallies, the LDF has chalked out a detailed campaign at urban and rural centres as it is of the view that the huge propaganda unleashed by Sangh Parivar outfits had misled many people in the state.
