Encourage talent, skill development to make New India: Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi

The Ministry of Minority Affairs prepared an E-portal to provide national and international markets to artisans and craftsmen.

Puducherry: Encouragement of talent and skill development will be an essential part of the vision of 'New India', Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said here on Sunday.

The Ministry is working to establish 'Hunar Hubs' across the country to provide a platform to artisans to display as well as sell their products, the minister said while inaugurating the Centre's Hunar Haat, which is aimed at promoting craftsmen of minority communities in domestic and international markets.

The Ministry of Minority Affairs prepared an E-portal to provide national and international markets to artisans and craftsmen from across the country. The government is preparing a data bank of artisans and will also provide them with relevant training to facilitate their access to national and international markets, the minister added.

The 'Hunar Haat' is being organised at Craft Bazaar, Gandhi Thidal Beach, Goubert Avenue here and will continue till September 30 in which master artisans from 16 states, including Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, New Delhi, Kerala, Karnataka, Puducherry, Assam, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Nagaland and Andhra Pradesh will be showcasing their traditional talent.

Chief Minister V Narayanasamy, member of Parliament, R Radhakrishnan, Chairman of National Minorities Development and Finance Corporation Shabaz Ali among others participated in the event.
