24x7 power, LEDs to light up Krishna Pushkaralu

316 distribution transformers are being erected and five of 33/11 kv power sub-stations are being established for the river fete.

Hyderabad: The AP Southern Power Distribution Company is spending Rs 85 crore to provide power supply and distribution infrastructure at 159 ghats for ensuing Krishna Pushkaralu.

The state government is also constituting a special force team with senior officials to replace the existing conventional streetlights with LED ones.

The energy department will adopt Centralised Control and Monitoring System with IT enabled Google-tagged controls for remote switching on and off of streetlights and to take immediate action in case of any momentary interruption. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed the officials to ensure 24x7 power during Krishna Pushkarulu as part of its efforts to make the event a grand success by providing all facilities and amenities to the pilgrims.

With crores of pilgrims expected to throng various ghats of Krishna river to take the holy dip, a special task force is being constituted to continuously monitor the uninterrupted power supply and retrofitting of ordinary streetlights with energy-efficient LED streetlights for enhanced illumination levels, particularly in three major districts of Krishna, Guntur and Kurnool.

Mr Naidu has asked the officials of Energy and Municipal Administration departments to complete the entire LED streetlighting program in three districts by this month-end along with adopting CCMS i.e., Centralised Control & Monitoring System. Energy department principal secretary Ajay Jain and APTransco CMD K. Vijayanand have instructed the power sector officials that the proposed task force comprising top officials of Energy, Municipal, Central government’s Energy Efficiency Services Limited, and also from the three districts, to ensure completion of all works related to power sector at all Pushkar ghats, complete LED streetlighting project in all the urban local bodies in these three districts by July 31.
