Hyderabad: Extorting scribes land in trouble

The two collected money from Ghatkesar SRO but came to blows over sharing the amount. Police booked cases.

Hyderabad: Whatever happened to the saying that even thieves have ethics!

Two vernacular TV channel stringers are in trouble after filing cases against each other. The matter: They fought over Rs 10,000 that they had collected from a sub-registrar office for an ‘Advertisement’. Police alleged that it was just their ‘mamool’ collection.

The two, Abhinav Giri and B. Radhakrishna, stringers for a local TV channel, had demanded and received the money from Ghatkesar SRO and had come to blows over sharing it. Ghatkesar police have booked cases against both.

In his complaint, Radhakrishna has alleged that Giri and another person had abused him over his caste and beat him up when he asked for his share of the money, Rachakonda Commissionerate police said.

Giri, in turn, had complained that Radhakrishna had attempted to rob him of the money and that he had sustained injuries while trying to fend him off.

“We have booked cases against both and are investigating them,” police said, adding that they suspected it to be a case of extortion gone wrong.
