Chennai: Two students were killed in a mishap that occurred on Grand Southern Trunk Road, near Guduvanchery, during the small hours on Sunday. Police said S. Krishnakumar (25), resident of Lakshmy Nagar, Guduvanchey and B. Rajesh (26), residing in Otteri near Vandalur, were riding along GST road around 3 am towards Guduvancherry when they rammed into a heavy-cargo transportation truck heading to Tiruchy.
The duo reportedly hit the slow-moving truck in their manoeuvre to overtake it. Passersby alerted 108 but paramedics from the emergency services declared them both dead on the spot. The bodies were subsequently moved to Chengelpet Government Hospital for a post-mortem.
The bodies were handed over to the families later in the day after autopsies were performed. Otteri Police in neighbouring Kancheepuram district had registered a case and are investigating into the accident. Rajesh’s mother Chandra is a ward councilor of Vandalur village.
