PR secretary holds review meeting with district officials on NREGA

Education Department officials directed to take up the constructions works of play grounds at all the government schools.

TIRUPATI: Principal secretary of Panchayat Raj Department K.S. Jawahar Reddy on Friday directed the officials concerned of the Education Department to take up the constructions works of play grounds and compound walls at all the government schools in the district. He organised a review meeting with the district officials and Directors of various projects at Chittoor and discussed on the progress of various schemes under the NREGA.

While addressing the meeting, Jawahar Reddy instructed the District Educational Officer (DEO) to ensure play ground facility at all the schools in the district.
He directed the DEO to immediately swing into action and build compound walls for the schools and also asked them to find out places for playgrounds for the schools which do not have ample space for playing. Jawahar Reddy further stressed on the need for sanitation in rural areas and instructed the officials concerned to make the Open Defecation Free (ODF) plus campaign a success. He directed the officials concerned to achieve the targets of ODF plus in villages and to also insist the public on the usage of the toilets.

The officials requested the principal secretary to consider the proposals placed before the authority for the sanction of more number of e-rickshaws which are being extensively used and giving good results in the garbage collection programme across the district.

District Collector P.S. Pradyumna further explained to the Principal Secretary about the posts of field assistants and technical assistants in DWAMA project, which are lying vacant, and requested him to fill the post. The Principal Secretary gave a nod for the request and said that the department concerned will soon look into the issue. Jawahar Reddy also instructed the officers concerned to develop the CC roads and asked them to ensure drinking water facilities to all the habitations in the district.
