Andhra Pradesh: 1100 toll-free complaint number receives good response

Complaints not being resolved.

Vijayawada: The toll-free complaint number, 1100, provided to the public by the Government of Andhra Pradesh, is receiving good response but the departments are not able to resolve the complaints promptly. The gap between receiving and resolving is huge. While the ministers and MLAs are not caring about these complaints, they have become the headache of the government staff alone.

So far, 4,67,000 complaints were registered through 1100 while those resolved stands at a meagre 78,000. Only 14 persons have been recruited specially to resolve the complaints. However, the ministers touring villages, as part of Intintiki TD, have been announcing that people can lodge any complaint by calling 1100. Minister for PR & RD and IT, Nara Lokesh, has posted on Twitter that, his department has received 1,800 complaints and resolved 750 of them. This has been posted on Aug. 3, 2017.

Only the officers are working on these complaints. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has instructed that every complaint will be considered resolved only after the complainant is satisfied with the answer from the respective department. The administrative staff of various departments are telling that it is because of satisfaction of the public that the complaints are pending.

The intention of the toll free number is to make loding complaints easy for the citizens, by just dialling a number. An official told Deccan Chronicle that this can be possible only when all the departments work in coordination and the ministers, concerned MLAs of constituency look into these complaints and suggest the solutions.

The complaints are going to ministers’ offices but nobody is analysing these complaints and briefing them to the ministers. With regard to the MLAs, they are not getting the list properly. The coordination between peoples representatives and the officials could bring good results, the official said.
