Where are the promised bhavans, Revanth asks Telangana CM

Mr Reddy said that the CM was ignoring construction of various bhavans in the city.

Hyderabad: Telugu Desam working president A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday flayed Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar, who is about to occupy the new camp office in Begumpet.

Mr Reddy said that the CM was ignoring construction of various bhavans in the city that he had promised for different sections of the society, and laid the foundation stones.

In a letter to the CM, Mr Reddy reminded him that he had laid the foundation stones in 2014 for Christian, Adivasi, Komaram Bheem and Banjara bhavans and had promised to complete these bhavans within a year. However, none of these bhavans have taken shape.

He said government has issued several GOs sanctioning the funds for construction of these bhavans and even promised Christians that the 2015 Christmas celebrations would be held in the new Bhavan.

For the Banjara bhavan, the CM had laid the foundation stone in Banjara Hills, but construction was halted on the pretext that the site allotted was disputed property. Similarly, the CM’s promise to construct one lakh 2BHK houses for the poor in Hyderabad city was getting nowhere, except for 969 flats in one area.
Mr Reddy threatened to launch an agitation with Christians, Adivasi and others if Mr kept neglecting his promise.

Elsewhere, Leader of the Opposition in Legislative Council Mohd. Ali Shabbir said it was morally incorrect and insensitive of the CM to move into a posh new bungalow without fulfilling his promise of constructing 2BHK houses for the poor.
“Instead of keeping his promise of constructing 2.6 lakh 2BHK houses for the poor, the CM is busy in the housewarming ceremony of his five star bungalow spread over one lakh sq. ft.,” Mr Shabbir Ali said.

“KCR will be hosting the housewarming function on Thursday, when four crore people of the state are hard pressed and suffering due to demonetisation,” he added.

Mr Shabbir Ali said that Mr had needlessly demolished part of the CM’s old bungalow constructed during Congress rule, citing vastu compliance.

He said that it was learnt that vastu expert Suddala Sudhakar Teja, who was appointed state vastu adviser, had suggested various modifications to suit the personal horoscope of the CM.

“The Congress and I personally have no objections to these changes if such suggestions are implemented in personal domain, but we are opposed to the huge wastage of public money and administration of the state on superstitions and belief in supernatural powers,” he added, saying that this was against the spirit of secularism and democratic principles as propounded by fathers of Indian constitution.

Mr Shabbir Ali appealed to Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan to desist from attending the housewarming ceremony as it was both unconstitutional and anti–secular.
