Hyderabad: Cops arrest man for rape and murder

According to the police, the body was found two days of the offence in a decomposed state.

Hyderabad: The East Zone Task Force along with Saidabad police apprehended accused Ramavath Shukru Naik, who was involved in a rape and murder case under Saidabad limits on September 13, 2019. After the body was discovered, special teams were formed and during the investigation, they looked at about 300 CCTV cameras near the scene of offence up to Champapet road, analysed cell phone tower dumps and identified the accused.

According to the police, the body was found two days of the offence in a decomposed state. The 43-year-old deceased Mudigonda Anjamma, was a labourer staying separately due to amatrimonial dispute. On September 11, at about 7 am, the deceased left the house for work and did not return.

Two days later, locals found a dead body lying in the bushes in an open plot besides BSNL quarters, Vinaynagar Colony, Saidabad and informed the police. The deceased’s relative came to the spot and identified the body as Mudigonda Anjamma’s. The police booked a case of 376 IPC and 302 IPC and formed special teams to nab the killer at large.

As a part of investigation, police verified the CCTV footage in the surrounding areas. Investigation revealed the identity of the accused. The East Zone Task Force along with Saidabad Police apprehended the accused Ramvath Shukru Naik.

When questioned. the accused confessed to crime and explained the series of incidents that led to brutal murder. The accused lured her to have sex by offering her alcohol. Later, he purchased alcohol and at about 10.00 pm, the accused took Anjamma to a secluded area and both consumed alcohol. The accused then forced himself on her but Anjamma resisted and demanded Rs 500.

The accused forcefully violated her and when Anjamma started crying and abused him for forcing himself on her, he became angry and partly out of rage and partly out of fear of getting caught, he repeatedly bludgeoned her with stones causing fatal injuries.
