Hyderabad: Water in borewells muddy

The pumps also got stuck because of the mud and silt that was coming along with the water.

Hyderabad: People who use borewells in certain areas found that muddy water had filled their overhead tanks. The pumps also got stuck because of the mud and silt that was coming along with the water.

In areas like Kukatpally, Alwal, Yapral, Saket, Malkajgiri, ECIL and Moulali, a lot of people complained that they had to flush out mud from their borewells.

Mr Ali Mirza, who repairs borewells, said, “For the last two weeks there are people from different areas calling up saying that their borewell motors have got stuck. There is red sticky mud and in some cases silt has been found.”

Flushing out the mud costs between Rs 5,000 and Rs 7,000. Mr Firaz Ahmed from ECIL explained, “It is not a one-time solution. The water levels in low-lying areas have increased, which is good. But it is making it difficult to use water. I have had the same problem, and I have been told not to use water from the borewell till the weather settles.

Many people use borewell water for house cleaning and other domestic purposes. Some of them said that they get Manjira water only twice in a week, making it difficult not to use the borewells. Those who have sensitive skin can suffer from problems like itching by using this water a doctor said.
