Hyderabad: A passenger was killed and five others were injured when an RTC bus collided head on with a truck at Bommala Ramavaram on the borders of Ranga Reddy and Nalgonda districts on Saturday morning.
The Kushaiguda depot RTC bus was coming to Kushaiguda while the truck was going in the opposite direction. Local police officials said the truck driver was driving in a rash and negligent manner and was responsible for the mishap.
The victim, M. Balamani, 50, a resident of Rangapuram, died on the spot.
“The victim was sitting in the front seat. She suffered serious injuries and was killed instantly,” said a police officer from Bommala Ramavaram police station.
The bus driver and four other passengers were rushed to hospital with serious injuries.Police said the truck was carrying concrete material and was going to a factory in Rangapuram while the bus was coming to Kushaiguda with around 30 passengers.
“There is a curve on the road and as the truck driver was driving very fast he crashed into the oncoming RTC bus. He lost control over the truck,” said a police official.
Police booked a case against the driver.
