KT Rama Rao wants parks in Hyderabad to be adopted

The parks will continue to be under the control and ownership of the GHMC and HMDA.

Hyderabad: Amid a series of complaints on the poor upkeep of parks, it has been decided that the Mayor, corporators, the GHMC commissioner and staff will adopt parks so that the maintenance of these recreational sites is overseen closely.

The parks will continue to be under the control and ownership of the GHMC and HMDA. However since they would get mentors, the maintenance will be a serious job, said minister K.T. Rama Rao. He was speaking after inspecting the Vengal Rao Park at Banjara Hills on Saturday morning.

Walkers in the park were in for a surprise when the minister came up to them and asked for suggestions so that the park can be given a facelift.

Some of them wanted the pond inside the park to be cleaned up, space made for children to play, more greenery and other amenities. The minister took note of all the suggestions and directed the municipal staff to come up with a detailed project report for him to take action.
