Two die as car hits barricade at Nelamangala

All three of them were cab drivers and hailed from Holenarasipura in Hassan district.

Bengaluru: Two people died and one person was injured after their car rammed into a barricade, toppled and fell off the service road in Nelamangala traffic police station limits early Saturday.

The deceased have been identified as Shridhar, 24, and Punith, 22, while the injured, Suman, 22, is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

All three of them were cab drivers and hailed from Holenarasipura in Hassan district. Recently they had come to the city and were staying in a rented room in Chikkabidarakallu.

According to the police, the accident happened when three of them were heading towards their hometown to meet their family members.

Shridhar was driving the car, while Punith was sitting next to him and Suman in the rear seat. The incident took place around 5 am near Nelamangala on National Highway (NH)-48.

Shridhar lost control over the car and it hit the barricade and toppled over to the service road.

Shridhar died on spot due to head injuries. The passersby immediately alerted the police and rushed the other two to the nearby hospital, where Punith was declared brought dead. Suman is now said to be out of danger.

The police said that Shridhar was reportedly driving the car in a rash and negligent manner.

The Nelamangala traffic police have registered a case.
