New AP capital Amaravati to be smart city

This is the third consecutive year that the Union Government has declared a list of Smart Cities.

Guntur: Amaravati, the new state capital whose construction is yet to begin, has been declared a Smart City by the Union Government. M. Venkaiah Naidu, Union Minister for Urban Development, on Thursday announced the new list of 30 Smart Cities.

The list also includes Patna, Bengaluru, Srinagar, Shimla, and Allahabad. Karimnagar in Telangana has also been accorded Smart City status. This is the third consecutive year that the Union Government has declared a list of Smart Cities.
