Probe into Madan case in right direction: Madras HC

High court gives two more weeks to cops.

CHENNAI: Pointing out that investigation into film producer Madan missing case is taken up seriously in a right direction, the Madras high court has granted two more weeks time to Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, CCB, S.Radhakrishnan to continue the probe.

A Division Bench comprising Justices S. Nagamuthu and V.Bharathidasan posted for July 6, further hearing of an HCP filed by R.S.Thangam, Madan’s mother.

After perusing the status report filed by Radhakrishnan, who was present in the court and making enquiry with him, the Bench said, “We are satisfied that investigation is taken up seriously in a right direction. We are hopeful that he would unearth every disputed fact and come up with an appropriate action. He needs four weeks of time. But, we are inclined to grant only two weeks time”.

In her petition, Thangam submitted her son Madan was missing since May 27. He had left for Delhi in connection with his work on May 27 and he spoke to her on May 28. On May 29, instead of returning to Chennai, she received a WhatsApp message of a letter stating about the business transaction with SRM Vendar and his broken state of mind to end his life in Kasi.

On May 30, her relatives had preferred a complaint with Virugambakkam police. The next day, she herself lodged a complaint with police Commissioner. The letter written by her son elucidates there were some money transaction with SRM. It raises apprehension of being kidnapped.

The investigation lacunae in tracing her son’s whereabouts by police was dubious of the illegal influences to deliberately suppress his presence for reasons unknown. No case was registered by police on her complaint. No action was initiated till now or any stern steps were taken to trace him by police. Unless, investigation was carried out, her son’s whereabouts will not be known, she said.
