Rajinikant greets namo

Rajinikanth had said when asked about the possibility of a grand opposition alliance to take on Narendra Modi.

Chennai: Superstar Rajinikanth's twitter congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi on coming back to power in the Lok Sabha polls, received both bouquets and brickbats on Thursday. The tweet of the superstar, who promised in January last year to plunge into 'spiritual politics and float a party before the next Assembly polls, due in 2021, was trolled soon after he posted the message on his twitter handle on Thursday afternoon.

In April, he had welcomed the BJP's poll promise of implementing river inter-linking and said that the initiative would address the issue of poverty as it would lead to upliftment of farmers and employment for crores of people. However, he refused to support any political party in the Lok Sabha elections and the by-polls to the Tamil Nadu assembly. "By God's grace, if people give the BJP a chance to form government at the Centre for the second time, the party should inter-link rivers," the superstar said.

It may be noted that last year, Rajinikanth made a comment which appeared to back PM Modi, indicating that the latter was a strong person. "When 10 persons go against one person, who is stronger? Those 10 or the person they are aligning against? If 10 persons declare war against one man, who is stronger?"

Among the 3200 comments, Sumanth Raman said, "Don't think anything will happen anytime soon. @EPSTamilNadu is going to be around for quite a while unless the 11 MLAs judgment goes against him. Even then BJP will save the Govt".

Another fan said, ‘our aim is Assembly Election. Vaa Thalaiva soon and Thalaivaaa. Marana Waiting.’ Another said, ‘Dear Thalaivar! With God's will, you'll make it in the coming assembly elections!’
