Chittoor district to be a hub for automobiles, says N Chandrababu Naidu

Hero Motocorp is setting up a motorcycle and spare parts manufacturing unit with an estimated investment of Rs 1,600 crore.

TIRUPATI: "Hero MotoCorp in Chittoor, KIA Motors in Anantapur will empower the automobile cluster from Ananthapur to Krishnapatnam port in Nellore," Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said during the ground breaking ceremony for Hero MotoCorp in Madanapalem village under Satyavedu mandal in Chittoor district on Friday.

Hero MotoCorp CMD Pawan Munjal, industries minister N. Amaranth Reddy and district collector P.S. Pradyumna were also present on the occasion. Hero MotoCorp is setting up a motorcycle and spare parts manufacturing unit with an estimated investment of Rs 1,600 crore across a 600 acre land area. Expressing delight at the setting up of the manufacturing unit of the renowned motorcycle company in Andhra Pradesh. Mr Naidu said thousands of job opportunities would be thrown open with the new setup. He also welcomed the setting up of KIA motors unit in Anantapur.

Addressing the gathering Mr Naidu said, "The government provides all the required infrastructure for setting up the industries. About 44 lakh unemployed will get jobs with the new industries coming up in the state. We will clear the problems of investors with a single phone call. Chittoor district will be developed as an automobile hub. An airport iscoming at Dugarajapatnam in Nellore district. Sri City is the best industries hub in India".

Hero MotoCorp CMD, Mr Pawan Munjal said, "An investor-friendly environment is present in the state. The dynamism and cooperation of the Chief Minister has brought us here to set up a manufacturing unit. I will also suggest my fellow industrialists to come to Andhra Pradesh. Our target is to produce 11 million motorcycles through this unit".
