SIMI terrorists had base in Sangareddy town of Medak district

They selected Sangareddy as it was close to the Karnataka border.

Hyderabad: The three dreaded SIMI terror fugitives who were arrested in February had set up a base in Sangareddy town in Medak district to carry out their activities. Sources in TS police said that investigations found they rented a house in Sangareddy to carry out robberies for funding their terror activities.

The trio identified as Mehboob alias Guddu, Amzad Khan alias Dowd and Zakir Hussein, all hailing from MP, were arrested in a joint operation by TS, Odisha and IB in February in the steel city of Rourkela.

A top police official said, “The SIMI suspects were taken on PT warrant by Bengaluru police from Odisha. We are waiting for their custody. The probe found they had rented a house in Sangareddy and stayed there a few days. They go for towns on state borders. They selected Sangareddy as it was close to the Karnataka border.”

Investigations found that the trio were planning robberies in Chattisgarh, Odisha and Jharkhand. “They were arrested in Rourkela which is the trijunction of Chattisgarh, Odisha and Jharkhand.”

Investigations found that they were involved in a bank robbery in Choppadandi in Karimnagar district and also offences in at least six states.
