No compromise with N Chandrababu Naidu: Congress

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said, Chandrababu Naidu has no right to step into Telangana.

Hyderabad: With the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) alleging that the Congress was likely to compromise with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and do injustice to Telangana on various issues, Congress leaders are trying to establish that there will be no compromise with Naidu or any other leader, as far as the state’s interests were concerned.

Former Union minister S. Jaipal Reddy said, “We will not compromise with Chandrababu Naidu, especially there will be no compromise on waters. The river water agreement will not be between parties, it will be between governments. Not only Mr Naidu, whoever it may be, when it deals with interests of Telangana, there will be no compromise.”

Addressing a public meeting earlier this week, caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said, “Chandrababu Naidu has no right to step into Telangana. He has written to the Union government opposing construction of projects in Khammam. Mr Naidu is building the Polavaram project, which will affect seven mandals of Khammam.”

Caretaker minister T. Harish Rao released an open letter questioning Mr Naidu on certain issues. As leaders of TRS are taking this version strongly to the public, the Congress leaders have started defending this one after another, just to create confidence among the people that Chandrababu Naidu will not work against the interests of Telangana.

Speaking to the media, Congress party working president A Revanth Reddy said, “AP will never block water to Telangana, as the state is located upstream of Andhra Pradesh. Even if Mr Naidu tries to stall the projects, he cannot do it. KCR is unable to complete the projects and is trying to blame Chandrababu Naidu for his failure. TRS is also planning to gain the sentiment of people of Telangana by using Chandrababu Naidu’s name.”
