Have protocol, end chaos, reporters told

He was responding to questions on them being prevented from entering Secretariat premises on Tuesday.

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said his office had not enforced any restriction on the entry of media persons into Secretariat.

He was responding to questions on them being prevented from entering Secretariat premises on Tuesday.

“There was no direction from CMO to restrict the entry of media persons on the premises. I will examine if the security wing had any issues,” he said.

Mr Vijayan said he had asked officials to avoid media during the submission of the report by the commission.

“I asked them to provide footage and photographs of the event to media organisations," he said.

"I had seen the visuals of the commotion when Solar Commission came to submit the report. The security personnel struggled to make way for him. This sort of situation should be avoided."

He said there was an increasing tendency to take reaction on different issues forcibly. “In many other states, I have found that media persons with their cameras position themselves at a particular spot. The minister goes to that area if he wants to say something or else he passes by. There is no commotion or chaos. I think media persons here too should enforce a similar protocol,” he said.

He said the other day a reporter tried to shove the mike at him while asking a question. He said media should avoid crowding in the hospital.
