App launched for safe Sabari trip by Kerala police

It can be used to search for resting points, petrol stations, temples, restaurants etc.

Kozhikode: The Kerala police has launched a mobile application for the security of the Sabarimala pilgrims which will enable them to know the location, route and get other information on their phones. The ‘Safe Sabarimala App’ developed by the IT department of the police will be available on Android 4.4 and above. The app, updated on November 18, has so far been installed in nearly 500 phones.

The department has also sought suggestions from the users for any improvement. The special features in the app would enable the user to track the facilities on the way to Sabarimala and back. The SOS feature will help the user talk to the team of experts and they would receive medical and intensive care within minutes.

When the user goes near Pampa, the app has provision to guide him to the nearest parking slots based on the parking monitoring systems. It informs the user about the queue status like the time needed to reach Sannidhanam. It can be used to search for resting points, petrol stations, temples, restaurants etc.

The sophisticated augmented reality window can be used to search for the nearest oxygen centres, medical aids, rest rooms, dolly services etc while climbing the steps and returning. The user will also receive news and alerts about what is happening around Pampa and Sannidhanam. ‘Sabarimala 360’ will give a 360-degree view of the places within Sabarimala and other key locations such as Erumeli.

The pilgrims can make use of the various assistance options such as missing person, lost and found etc from the application which can be downloaded from Google play store.
