Raja should be arrested for watching pirated copy: TTV camp

He also said it was saddening that the BJP leaders are against the film.

Chennai: Wading into the Mersal controversy, the TTV Dhinakaran camp on Sunday demanded the arrest of BJP leader H. Raja for allegedly watching the latest Tamil blockbuster online.

The camp’s spokesperson Nanjil Sampath also accused the BJP of “muzzling the voice” of filmmakers by demanding that scenes and dialogues relating to GST and Digital India be removed with immediate effect. BJP’s demand has stoked a major political controversy, with national leaders asking the ruling party at the Centre to respect freedom of speech and expression.

“BJP leaders Tamilisai and H. Raja have been providing free publicity to Mersal film for the past couple of days. H. Raja says he watched the movie online, which is a pirated version. I demand that the police take action against Raja for watching a pirated version of a new film and arrest him”, Sampath said.

He also said it was saddening that the BJP leaders are against the film, which has sent out a social message by reflecting the “true sentiments” of the people on GST.
