Poojary alleged that Mr Ibrahim, who joined the Congress recently, was trying to weaken the party.

MANGALURU: Expressing displeasure over former Union minister and deputy chairman of state planning board C M Ibrahim singing praises of JD (S) patriarch H D Deve Gowda, former KPCC chief B Janardhan Poojary alleged that efforts were on to destabilize the Congress government and demanding action against the leader known for his proximity to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

“Mr Ibrahim has stated that Mr Deve Gowda and his administration was a model for the entire country and spoke in support of JD (S). He also sounded unhappy about the Chief Minister. If Mr Siddaramaiah has respect for the Congress, let him oust Mr Ibrahim from the post for annoying the Congress, or step down from the post of Chief Minister,” he told the media here.

Mr Ibrahim appealed to central leaders of the party to take cognizance of Mr Ibrahim’s statements, and initiate necessary action against him. He also alleged that Mr Ibrahim, who joined the Congress recently, was trying to weaken the party. Mr Poojary, who has been opposing the controversial Yettinahole drinking water project, alleged that the state government was trying to destroy the river Netravathi by executing the diversion plans.
