Media-lawyer spat: Congress leader AK Anthony faults Kerala government

KPCC president V.M. Sudheeran said the police filing case against woman journalists could not be justified in any way.

Thiruvananthapuram: Senior Congress leader A.K. Antony came down heavily against the state government for failing to settle the dispute between lawyers and the media. He was speaking to reporters after handing over the educational scholarships to students belonging to Aruvikkara Assembly constituency coinciding with the G. Karthikeyan Memorial Trust.

Seeking action against lawyers who attacked mediapersons, Mr Antony alleged that a section in lawyers’ community was indulging in criminal activities.

“Any attempt to thwart the functioning of media is objectionable. It is a shame that the issue still continues to rage which is yet to be resolved,” said Mr Antony.

Meanwhile, KPCC president V.M. Sudheeran said the police filing case against woman journalists could not be justified in any way. He alleged that it is unfortunate that the police is siding a group of lawyers who are committing criminal offence.
